Terms, conditions and disclaimer

Order processing:

Once you place an order, you will receive an email confirmation that contains the details of your order and a tax invoice (please check your junk folder if it doesn’t come through). If you do not receive an order confirmation, or you notice an error with the items you have purchased or your delivery address, please contact us immediately.

We aim to package and dispatch orders within one business day. In some cases it can take longer, particularly if the item requires measuring, cutting, or other preparation. We will contact you if there is going to be a delay dispatching your goods.

Out of stock items:

We work hard to ensure the stock numbers displayed on the website are correct. All products listed in stock are physically in our possession and ready to be sent out. Occasionally, when we know an out-of-stock item will be available soon, we do offer a “backorder” option. This includes details of the item’s estimated arrival date.

On very rare occasions, errors occur and an item is out of stock or unavailable in your chosen colour, size, or style. If this is the case, we will contact you immediately to arrange a refund or exchange.

Shipping:

We offer free standard shipping Australia-wide for orders of $50 or more. For click and collect orders, you will be contacted once they have been processed. These can be picked up 24 hours a day from Springwood, NSW. Orders are generally sent using Australia Post, but for heavy or bulky items we may use other package delivery services. We also offer Express Post for urgent orders (if your order weighs over 5kg, the website won’t provide this option, but you can contact us for a quote for Express Post on parcels up to 22kg).

Once your order has been processed, you will receive an automated email which includes tracking details.

If you want to arrange shipping using your own courier service, please get in touch before placing your order.

Warranty and returns:

Canyon Gear is covered by the Australian Consumer Law. That means that when you buy a product from us, it comes with an automatic guarantee that what you receive will do what was advertised.

If you receive an item that is defective, please contact us immediately and we will arrange return shipping for the product. We will repair or replace the item at no cost to you, or offer a full refund. We will also repair or replace items that develop a fault over time that is unrelated to normal wear and tear.

We can not accept returns or exchanges of safety equipment unless the item is defective or damaged. This includes helmets, descenders, carabiners, ropes, harnesses, slings, etc. For other items, we can arrange a refund or exchange due to a change of mind within 30 days of receiving your order, however the item must be unused and in the original packaging. In this situation you will need to pay for return shipping.

International purchases:

The Canyon Gear website currently only accepts purchases from Australia and New Zealand. Prices on the website are listed in Australian dollars and include 10% GST (Goods and Services Tax). This tax is not charged on orders from outside Australia. While the website attempts to use geolocation to automatically removed this tax for customers in New Zealand, this doesn’t always work, so you may need to enter your address at the checkout or use the “calculate shipping” tool in the cart to have the correct, GST-free prices show up.

Shipping to New Zealand is charged based on the weight of your order and is sent via Australia Post / NZ Post. If you require items more urgently, we can offer international Express Post, FedEx or DHL for an additional cost. If you have issues with the website failing to recognise your address or provide the international shipping option, or want to use an express shipping option, simply get in touch with details of what you would like to order and your address.

For larger orders, it can be more cost effective to use a service such as Wise to pay via bank transfer, as financial institutions often charge fees or use inflated exchange rates when payments card payments are made in another currency.

Disclaimer:

Canyoning can be extremely dangerous. Every year, serious incidents — some resulting in major injury or even death — occur in canyons in Australia and around the world.

Make sure you have the requisite skills and equipment — such as anchor-building materials, self-rescue gear, and items to deal with emergency situations — before entering a canyon.

Always test new equipment and techniques in a safe environment, confirming you fully understand their operation before attempting to use them in a canyon. Consider seeking formal instruction where any uncertainty remains.

We take no responsibility for dangerous, improper, or incorrect usage of any equipment sold, or the potential consequence of those inappropriate actions.

Only you can ensure you have read the relevant documentation, understood how to safely use items, and are capable of implementing that knowledge correctly in a canyon setting.
