The SMC Rigging Ring is the strongest aluminum ring of its size on the market.
Designed as the ultimate climbing accessory, it can be used in conjunction with anchor systems, haul systems, and as a connection point, providing a missing link which is often needed in rigging and rescue scenarios. It’s uses are only limited by your imagination and expertise.
With a breaking strength of 32 kN it is nearly 50 per cent stronger than a standard carabiner, while weighing a tiny 26 grams.
The SMC Rigging Ring is particularly useful as an alternative to maillons or quicklinks when rigging abseil anchors. The anodised aluminium is corrosion and abrasion resistant, ensuring a long lifespan, even in challenging canyon environments.
Unlike maillons, which have no rated strength if the gate has not been properly tightened or if the screw thread corrodes, there are no hidden points of failure. The clear markings also make it easy for other canyoners to visually inspect the anchor and confirm it is constructed of appropriate gear.
It is large enough to clip in three standard carabiners, making it easy to fit rope, sling, and still clip in with a safety tether, yet it remains compact enough to use with a ‘biner block. It is also strong and hard wearing enough to be incorporated into releasable anchor systems.
