The Kong Oka descender was designed specifically for canyoning, with an asymmetric shape that reduces rope twist. The simple, intuitive design can be used with single or double ropes.
This horned figure of eight device provides several pre-set friction settings which can be added to while abseiling, as well as allowing simple, secure lock-off.
It can be used as a releasable anchor, allowing an abseiler to be lowered or for bleeding out rope to change the wear point on sharp rocks.
The single gigi slot allows the device to be used for belaying, as well as in a range of other emergency and rescue settings.
A rubber O-ring holds the carabiner securely in place, preventing cross loading and reducing the risk of the descender being dropped when getting on or off rope. (Also supplied are two spare rubber parts.)
Key advantages:
- preset friction levels can be added to while abseiling
- design prevents carabiner cross-loading or accidental loss of device
- compact, light-weight, yet extremely versatile
- use for belaying or rigging releasable anchors
